CHICAGO – Special note: This will be a special version of this class aimed at TNG-aged people, who might have careers, families, and other responsibilities of adulting, or might not. We’ll take special time to look at the possible implications of all of these things to future-you, as well as today’s you.
A lot of kinky folk lead a double life of sorts: a public and professional life with our family, friends, and coworkers, and a secret life cloaked in shadows. But we’re not superheroes with secret identities – we’re kinky people. There’s a commonly held belief among us kinky folk that to come out of the kinky closet would mean ruin, to careers, to families, to custodial situations, and more. And to make matters more complicated: even if you decided you wanted to, just how on earth do you come out as “kinky?”
This class does not advocate coming out, or staying secret; it is a discussion that looks at some of the issues surrounding coming out, including risks, meaning, what it means to come out, and some ideas of how to do it, for those wrestling with the question of whether this is something they really want to change in their lives.
Roughinamorato
Roughinamorato is a charmingly sadistic bastard who believes that kink should be fun; just because you’re torturing someone doesn’t mean you can’t both have a good laugh between the screams. He’s been teaching in the BDSM scene since 2006.
His journey of self-discovery into kink and BDSM has led him to want to share that joy and pain with others, through classes about rough body play, rope, connection, and sexual expression. He has become an internationally renowned presenter and has taught at events across the world including Dark Odyssey, Shibaricon, The Gathering, Thunder in the Mountains, Frolicon, The Floating World, Winter Wickedness, WestCoast Bound, Rope Camp, the Fetish Flea, and many more. He runs Rough Crowd, a monthly rough body play workshop in Chicago, and Rough Crowd Academy, a rough body play intensive weekend that has made appearances in cities from San Francisco to Boston, Toronto to Sydney. He also runs Rough Crowd Cigars, a monthly-ish smoker.
You can find him on FetLife at fetlife.com/roughinamorato, on Twitter @roughinamorato, or on the web at http://roughinamorato.com and http://roughcrowd.org.
Roughinamorato lives in Chicago.
Social Hour
Before each and every single one of our classes we host a social hour that starts at 5. This is a great time to come out and meet people if you’re new and nervous, or to chat with your friends if you’re a regular. This is a great time to get a tour of GD and ask questions. We hope to see you there!
