INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s Leather Sir/boy and Ms. contests were held on March 20 and 21. There was a Karaoke Meet and Greet held on Friday, March 20, at the 501 Eagle in Indianapolis. At this event, the contestants for the weekend were announced. There was one Sir contestant, Sir Chaz. There were also two Ms. contestants, Sara and Rhee. All three spent the evening introducing themselves to the judges and visitors, sharing their desires and visions for an upcoming title year. The judging staff was also announced and included a large cross-section of the community, including current and past title-holders from the ILSb circuit, as well as the IML and IMsL circuit.
The contest resumed for the contestants on Saturday afternoon for the private interviews. At 10:00 pm, the final section of the contest was held, again at the 501 Eagle. The contest was emceed by Ms. Tammy and Mactep, this year’s Great Lakes Olympus titleholders. The event’s producer, boy John, gave a heart-felt speech about sharing our feelings, being there for others, and the ever-present issue of suicide in our community. He also received a public commendation from Ms. Kendra, who produces Great Lakes Leather Alliance, to which Indiana Leather Sir/boy is a feeder contest. Of additional interest was a speech from Bootblack Marta who represented the Indiana community last year, winning the Great Lakes Bootblack title last fall. She will be competing for the international bootblacking title at IMsL in just a few weeks.
After stirring speeches, a few moments of comedic gold, and some heated fantasies, the winners were announced. Sir Chaz was sashed as Indiana Leather Sir, and Rhee was named Ms. Indiana Leather. During the course of the night, several hundred dollars was raised to help fund the upcoming travel expenses of the newly-sashed title-holders. Both Sir Chaz and Rhee will compete at Great Lakes Leather Alliance in October.
