In the Shadows of Consent: BDSM/Kink v. Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault

INDIANAPOLIS — Presented from a kink- and consent-positive perspective, this workshop provides information about domestic violence and sexual assault, as they may manifest within the BDSM/kink community. Featuring sensitive (although not explicit) subject matter, the material is approached as an opportunity to enhance participants understanding of consent within a kink space, as well as limitations to consent, barriers to disclosure when things go awry, and obstacles that kink-identified survivors may face after an assault. Topics to be covered include BDSM ethics, what DV/SA can look like within a Power Excange dynamic or kink play, legal concerns, and community best practices.
