CHICAGO – For September’s educational event, GD2 is excited to welcome back national presenter Cricket Grrl! Her last class at GD2, a lecture on assertiveness for bottoms, was a big success and we are looking forward to her return!
Often when we think of ritual, we imagine a priestess or shaman in a dusky, smoke filled room. In reality, a ritual is simply a set of behaviors intended to center, focus, heal or communicate. Some rituals are very simple (slave kneels and greets Master at the door with his slippers), others can be complex (slave builds a fire in a very exact way, arranges the furniture just as instructed, sits in meditation for 15 minutes, then recites a mantra or poem to indicate to Master that he has prepared himself for Master’s use).
Regardless of complexity, ritual is a powerful way to orient the members of a power exchange relationship to their roles, to one another, and to a common goal. This class will consist of an explanation of what a ritual is and how and why it works, followed by discussion of individual participants’ relationship needs or goals and assistance with brainstorming effective rituals.

I am a 45 year old Leather girl living in Indianapolis. I serve the local community in varying capacities as a member of NLA – Indianapolis, Andromeda, IMAs and KISS, as well as on the board of Great Lakes Leather Alliance. My workshops, which I’ve presented at IMAs, KISS, Galleria Domain 2 and GLLA, are informed by 13 years working in mental health counseling and education, 5 of which were spent educating school and social service professionals about Gender and Sexuality; the generosity of my Odawa and Ojibwe teachers, and an avocation as a martial artist and self defense instructor. I have been in the lifestyle about 6 years, and am passionate about empowerment, healing, and helping folks understand and value our differences as well as our similarities. While I primarily present within a day’s drive of Indianapolis, I am willing to discuss travel to other areas.
