Regional People Do Well with Pantheon Awards

CHICAGO – The Pantheon of Leather Awards were announced this week and while there wasn’t the same showing as in past years, regional leaders were recognized.

Calvin Pohler, producer of the Mr. Michigan Leather contest was selected for the Great Lakes Award. Along with producing one of the strongest contests in the region, Calvin has also worked with Mr. Friendly, Beautiful, West Michigan Pride, The Network, CAREs, The AIDS Quilt, and Rainbow Family Coalition. He is also an associate member of several of Michigan’s clubs such as Grand Rapids Riverman, Wolf Pack MC and ICON Detroit.

Jeremiah Morris of Des Moines won the Midwest Award. Mr. Iowa Leather 2011, Jeremiah has gone on to help grow the Titans of the Midwest and helped to found the organization’s Kink U, a kink education effort that presents at events throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes regions. He is also a producer of Iowa Leather Weekend and helped establish the first Ms. Iowa Leather contest.

Louisville’s Gabriel Majors won the South East Regional Award. He serves as a ASL interpreter for events across the country including Great Lakes Leather Weekend and has held local and regional bootblacking titles.

Bob Miller of Cleveland won the national Community Choice Award. Bob is a cofounder of Cleveland Leather Awareness Weekend and a co-founder and chairman of the Leather Hall of Fame.

All the winners will receive their awards at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Atlanta on Oct. 10.
