CLEVELAND – Each year we elect or re-elect Board Members for the following year. This year we have scheduled the Elections and Business Meeting for Sat. May 18, 2013 at 8pm. The new board will take over effective June 1, 2013.
In order to attend the Elections and Business meeting your Ohio SMART Membership must be current as of May 11, 2013. You can not join after that date and attend the Elections/Business Meeting. In order to run for Board Member your membership must be current for at least 3 months prior to the elections, or Feb 19, 2013.
Anyone that is eligible is welcome to run. You must complete and return the Candidate Bio Form by May 11, 2013 midnight EDT to info@ohiosmart.org if you wish to be on the ballot. No absentee or proxy votes are allowed. You must be present to vote in the election.
The Business Meeting will precede the Election. If you have specific questions that you wish addressed please email them to the Board Members at info@ohiosmart.org prior to the meeting so that we can be prepared to answer them.
The Position of Ohio SMART Board Member is not one to be taken lightly. The Board Members run the organization for the members. This is a volunteer position. No compensation is provided. Duties and obligations include attending First Friday, Third Saturday and the monthly Board meeting every month. Attendance and coordination of Special Interest Groups, arriving early to set for the event, and staying late to close down and clean up after each event. Board duties also include many behind the scenes jobs as well as taking part in the planning committee for Kinko de Mayo.
Being an Ohio SMART Board Member is a significant commitment of time, each and every month for the upcoming year.
The Board Members elected officer’s will have their legal names filed with the state of Ohio on an annual basis and may come up in a document or background search. You can run for a Board Officer or a At Large Board member. At Large Board members have almost all of the same privileged and responsibilities but will not be added to the corporate paper work with the state nor will you be required to provide your social security number for banking or tax purposes.
