Nominations Open for Connell – Stanley Leather Person of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Nominations for the Connell – Stanley Leather Person of the Year Award are open.  Go to www.mrbluegrassleather.com and nominate someone for the Connell-Stanley Leatherperson of the Year award. The award will be presented during Mr Bluegrass… Leather Weekend on Oct 19-21.  You do NOT have to live in Lexington to be nominated or win.  This award is for our Tri-State area community.  Let’s all get involved and recognize those leather men and women who have made a difference in our communities.

In 2010, the Kentucky Leather community lost two long time trailblazers and supporters.

Larry Stanley was the founder of Crossings Lexington, President of Kentucky Leather Productions and Producer of the Mr. Kentucky Leather Contest. He was a member of several organization including The Lexington Lyons and Imperial Court of Kentucky. Mr. Stanley was on the front lines of community involvment and support for many years paving the way that many of us follow today.

Bob Connell was what one could consider a “behind the scenes” type of supporter. As owner of Crossings Lexington, he brought back events such as Mr. Crossings Lexington Leather and hosted bar nights for clubs across the Tri-State area. Mr. Connell also supported the future of the leather community in Kentucky by sponoring many organizations and events including the founding of Mr. Bluegrass Leather 2010. Mr. Connell didn’t limit his support to just Kentucky. He was also a supporter of several events and organizations in New Orleans as well.

To honor the years of service and dedication by both of these true Men of Leather, Bluegrass leather announces the creation of the Connell-Stanley Leatherperson of the Year Award.

Nominate the person that you feel has made a lasting positive impact on the leather community through support and/or activism.    They should represent the highest caliber our community has to offer.
