
CHICAGO – GummiBärchen of Chicago became the first Mr. Midwest Rubber in more than a decade to win Mr. International Rubber at the MIR contest on Saturday, Nov. 7. He brought the title back to its home out of a field of six contestants from three countries.
The first runner up was Feral Jack, Mr. Rubber Montreal, and the second runner up was Tom, Mr. Rubber Netherlands, keeping up the international aspect of the contest. Other contestants came from Ottawa, New York, and Massachusetts.
The theme for this year was Rubbair, with a airline feel throughout the weekend. Chicago drag artist Teri Yaki once again was the emcee for the weekend. Judges for this year were Brian Conway, producer of Thunder in the Mountains in Denver; Reid Dalgeish, Vancouver rubber blogger and producer of Rubbout Fetish Weekend; Steve Dupont, first runner-up of IML 2014; David Merrill, kink educator; Grego Osko, founder of Warsaw Fetish Weekend in Poland; Scott Turner, Mr. International Bear 2008; and Max Samauth, Mr. International Rubber 18.
Justin Herren, Mr. Fetish Jackhammer 2015, and Luis Tipantasig, Mr. Chicago Leather 2015, were the tallymasters for this year.
Most of the events were held at the Center on Halsted in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with parties held at Cellblock, Steamworks, Touché and Jackhammer throughout the weekend. The crowd at the vendor market was full all weekend with vendors including the first gay fetish shop in eastern Europe.
GummiBärchen will represent the rubber community at events both across the U.S. and internationally.
