MLive: Michigan comes out ahead on cheap beer

LANSING — Michigan has come ahead in one area: cheep cases of beer.

News website MLive reported that the state has the cheapest beer cases in the country.

From MLive:

Released by the team at Simple Thrifty Living earlier this week, the study measures the average cost of a 24-pack of beer in each of the 50 states. At $14.62, Michigan has the lowest average cost in the nation.

California ($14.87), Illinois ($15), North Carolina ($15.23) and Connecticut ($15.96) followed Michigan.

Before you get too excited, the study did not include local brews and focused on just two brands, Bud Light and Miller Light, at two chain stores, Walmart and Total Wine. So take the results with a chaser.
