LRA Chicago announces charitable partnership with the Broadway Youth Center

LRA-Chicago

CHICAGO – The Board of Directors of LRA is pleased to announce that it recently voted to adopt the Broadway Youth Center (BYC) as its official charity. Recently, the good work of BYC came to our attention through our friends at Windy City Trident, who are working with them as well. We are also pleased to make this association.

About BYC (taken from their website – howardbrown.org/byc):
“The Broadway Youth Center is a program of Howard Brown Health Center and our community partners, offering comprehensive services to youth, ages 12-24 including a safe space for young people experiencing homelessness.

The Broadway Youth Center is located at 3179 N. Broadway, near the intersection of Broadway and Belmont, and is open Monday-Friday from 1-8:00 pm. Hours are subject to change. All services are first-come, first served and free of charge.”

LRA wants to encourage its members and guests to support this endeavor for an organization that does great work for our community in providing resources not only for homeless youth but also LGBTQ youth as well. They also provide access to the internet for educational or employment assistance.

As discussed at our March Members Meeting, LRA will be donating 20% of future monies raised for the Capital Improvement Fund of LRA to a charitable cause, which now will be the Broadway Youth Center.

The donations LRA will be collecting will not be purely in financial form. The BYC has a list of requested items that we will be publishing soon.

These items include, for example, book bags, deodorant, soap, and hand sanitizer, as well as many other things. The LRA Board will be publishing a comprehensive list of donated items and other ways to volunteer with BYC.

We want to thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the Broadway Youth Center.
