Then come out to LR’s Monthly Monday meeting!
Agenda
This month we are focusing on educating newcomers to rope as a BDSM discipline. We will be covering basics of safety, rope selection, the handful of knots used in rope, and more.
That doesn’t mean experienced rope people are not welcome. Far from it! Come and reinforce what you already know, maybe learn something new, and share your knowledge with others.
A LOT will be covered, depending on how quickly the group masters the concepts. Agenda to include as much of the following as possible:
Safety
- Emergency equipment.
- Where to tie; where NOT to tie.
- Constriction and how to avoid it.
- How to communicate with each other.
Rope Selection
- Natural (jute, hemp, cotton, etc)
- Synthetic (hempex, nylon, polyester, etc)
Rope Basics
- Handling rope.
- Connecting with each other.
- Knots (Lark’s Head, Overhand, Square, Bowlines)
Ties
- Single-column
- Double-column
What to bring?
While nothing is necessarily required, we do recommend you bring the following if you have them:
- Safety Shears, Rescue Hook, etc.
- Rope (if you are a beginner, something cheap will do while you learn).
- Blanket or mat for sitting and playing on the concrete floor.
- Pen and paper if you want to take notes.
- Comfortable clothing.
What is Louisville Rope?
Louisville Rope (profile; group) is a collective of folks interested in rope as a BDSM discipline, be it as tops, bottoms, or switches. The group works to educate those interested in the variety of ways rope can be used through classes, practice sessions, informal knowledge sharing events, and more.
We encourage anyone with an interest in rope, regardless of experience level, to friend the LR profile, join the LR group, and come out to the events. New members are always welcome!
