LGBT Milwaukee: How Pride Was Born

MILWAUKEE — If you missed our LGBT Milwaukee Book Release party on August 22, here’s another chance to join the conversation about Milwaukee’s rich LGBTQ history!

Michail Takach, author of LGBT Milwaukee and Communications Director for Milwaukee Pride, Inc., in partnership with the Wisconsin LGBT History Project, seeks to make the story of LGBT Milwaukee accessible, visible, and portable for future generations.

Join us at the Richard and Lucile Krug Rare Books Room at the Milwaukee Central Library (814 W. Wisconsin Ave.) for a guided tour of eight decades of Milwaukee’s LGBTQ history: from the hotel parties of the 1920s to the bustouts and brutalities of the 1960s, from the video bars of the 1980s to record-breaking pride celebrations of today.

Books will be available for purchase and signing, thanks to our proud partners at Outwords Books. All proceeds from book sales support Milwaukee Pride’s efforts to document, preserve and celebrate local LGBTQ history.
