CHICAGO – For the first time, the Leather Archives & Museum hosted a punk rock concert, with all proceeds from the event going to the Archives.

Five Chicago-area punk and rock bands took part in the concert: SLOP SINK, The Columbines, Whales, You Fucking Oughta Know and Absolutely Not.

Leslie Anderson, the LA&M’s leather preservationist, was on hand for bootblacking.

The event was organized by Jakob VanLammeren, the LA&M’s new archivist, collections librarian and a member of one of the bands. “I have a lot of friends who are in bands,” said Jakob, “and when I thought about doing a fundraiser, I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done in this space before. I really wanted to have younger people and people from the south and southwest sides [of Chicago] exposed to the Leather Archives & Museum.”

The concert drew a younger crowd than usual to the Archives with people expressing interest in returning to the location.
