CHICAGO – Leather Archives & Museum Online Catalog is growing and being used more and more.
Since its launch in July 2013, the Leather Archives & Museum OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) has been used to locate materials at the LA&M, conduct research and facilitate finding rare periodicals. If you haven’t used this tool to explore the vast collections of the LA&M, visit: http://webopac.infovisionsoftware.com/leather/
At launch, the catalog contained over 15,000 periodicals and entries. Over the past several months, hundreds of films available at the LA&M have been added.
Scholars and other Patrons of the LA&M have been using the OPAC in preparation for visits to the LA&M or while engaged in research onsite. The distance research team at the Leather Archives has also used the OPAC to assist Patrons in locating materials that can answer questions about Leather and fetish history and culture.
While finishing its film cataloging project, the LA&M is looking forward to adding digital resources, archival holdings and museum objects to the OPAC.
