The weekend kicked off on Friday with the introduction of contestants and judges and the anniversary of the Chicago Rubbermen, one of the contest’s sponsors. The contestants were Jesse and RubberMat of Chicago. The judges included Collin Wood, Mr. Midwest Rubber 2012; Nick Zuko, Mr. Chicago Leather 2013; Jon Krongaard, IML Coordinator; Jeff Willoughby, Mr. Chicago Leather 2005; and Rubber Ryan, Mr. Vulcan Rubber 1998. As has been the case for many rubber contests this year, one seat was kept empty in memory of MIR 2013 Jason Lynch, who passed away in February.

MIR 2003 Rubberwillie was the emcee again and, as usual, did run a quick and efficient contest. After the blessing from the Windy City Abbey of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the contest went into the bar wear, jock strap and dollar bag categories. The dollar bag, picked up from the MIR contest, has each contestant using items found at a dollar store to create a scene on stage. The scene bottom for this year was Derek da Silva, who really seemed to enjoy the proceedings. Out going MMR Collin also did a scene as a going away… present. A chance to lick off banana cream pudding from Derek was auction for $50 to American Brotherhood Weekend producer Dean Ogren with the money going to Groceryland, a food bank for HIV/AIDS patients.
Jesse is the first Iowan to win a regional fetish title and will represent the Midwest at Mr. International Rubber in Chicago this November.
