JACKSON — The home of Jackson Pride Center’s director, Nikki Joly, burned on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 10.

From MLive:

Fire crews were called to a house in the 1800 block of Pringle Avenue at about 1:20 p.m., Aug. 10, where they found heavy smoke and flames at a two-story home, Deputy Director of Fire Services David Wooden said.

The fire, which is believed to have started on the first floor, quickly worked its way up through the home and erupted through the roof, Wooden said.

Nikki lost her pets, two dogs and three cats, in the fire.

“Nikki is the sweetest person I have ever met,” neighbor Rayanna Palmer told MLive. “Nikki would always be out with the dogs and let my kids play with them. Nobody deserves to lose their home like this.”

Two firefighters were injured fighting the blaze. MLive reported that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
