Iowa Leather Weekend announces leadership changes

DES MOINES — Iowa Leather Weekend announced on Tuesday that they were adding new positions and staff to the production team of the annual contest weekend.

Turk Pierson, a current Iowa Leather Weekend staff member,will step into the role of Associate Producer, overseeing the Volunteer Coordinator & Box Office Coordinator. Jennifer Allen, Ms. Iowa Leather 2014, will serve as Director, overseeing the Judges Coordinator, Tally & History Coordinator, and Education Coordinator. Rob Anderson, Mr. Iowa Leather 2016, will serve as Director of Media, overseeing the Social Media and Marketing Team, Webmaster, and Photography Team. Zach Bellman and AJ Perdew, Mr. Iowa Bear 2017 & Mr. NAB 2017, will both serve as Directors, overseeing Contestant Development and Relations including the Den Staff, as well as Social Coordinators. Ryan Dennis will serve as Director, overseeing the Production Team, Bootblack Coordinator, Venue Coordinator, Security and Technology.

New staff members include Travis Rhoden, who will be Judges Coordinator; Jonathan Garton as education coordinator, and Magnus Wynter will be joining the photography staff.

Jeremiah Morris will remain as executive producer of Iowa Leather Weekend.

“Year after year, Iowa Leather Weekend has continued to see growth in attendance, programming, outreach, and sponsorship,” ILW said in a press release. “With the additional growth, the reorganization is designed to allow for greater autonomy of each functional area and more direct communication with each area’s director, with the director reporting back to the Producers. Under the direction of executive producer Jeremy Morris, the Iowa Leather Weekend staff and production team will see the addition of a new Associate Producer and multiple Managing Directors that will oversee the various functional areas that are responsible for producing Iowa Leather Weekend.”

The staff changes are effective immediately, according to the statement.

Weekend package, hotel & table reservations will open soon. The 30th Annual Iowa Leather Weekend will be October 12th-14th, 2018.
