International Puppy 2016

IPC 2016 (1)

ST. LOUIS – This past weekend, the International Puppy Contest made it’s debut in it’s new home, JJ’s Clubhouse in Saint Louis. International Puppy decided to expand more into the community this year with a variety of LGBT and kink friendly venues across the Saint Louis area.

IPC 2016 (7)Thursday’s Puppy & Handler Sushi had an amazing showing of Handlers, pups and friends alike. It had the feeling of almost like a family reunion with everyone coming together and meeting for the first time or seeing each other after many months. We were hosted by the wonderful owner and staff at Blue Ocean Sushi on the Delmar Loop. AK and crew really worked their heart out for us and took care of the sushi and non-sushi lovers in the group. After, we all headed to JJ’s for Fetish Night and everyone really kicked the weekend off right!

Friday, everyone had a chance to see the sights, go to a Puppy Pool Party at Club St Louis or one hosted by the Florida Puppies, or a Saint Louis history tour that showed some of the city’s most haunted locations. Pup Hercules then hosted a bar crawl hitting some of The Grove’s great bars.

IPC 2016 (5)After some downtime, it was time for the International Puppy Meet & Greet, introduction of the International Puppy Owners including the 2 newest IPC owners – Pup Tripp and Jaeger Pup then contestants introduction and drawing of the contestant numbers. IPC was proud to have our first female contestant, Pup Incus from Kentucky and also our first contestant from abroad – Kriszly de Hond – Mr Puppy Europe from Amsterdam. Also our fantastic other contestants: Pup Spaz – Tri-State Pup from Indiana, Sea Wolf – Southeast Pup from South Carolina and Pup Trash – Mr Rawhide from Louisiana. The night also had a class on Puppy Mental health hosted by Patty – International Ms Leather 2014 and her puppy compatriate. The night ended with a mosh pit and more social time.

Saturday’s activities included classes held at JJ’s including Training the Trainer, Puppy 201, Puppy Community Perspectives and Is your head safe – puppy headspace and mental health. Then it was on to the interviews for the contestants! The night started off with a dinner open to all at St Louis’ newest community bar R-Bar and then off to JJ’s for the big event!

IPC 2016 (3)This year’s International Puppy Judges included – Patty International Ms Leather, Jay Johnson Mr Midwest Leather, Pup Havok, Dr Bruce Karmazin Mr Midwest Leather, Pup Tork IPTC International Puppy, Mona Chase and Pup Figaro International Puppy 2015. Our MC Karma T Cassidy really wow’d the crowd with her live vocal stylings along with an amazing duet by Mona Chase and Pup Figaro.

The Contest had a great feel to it. Everyone was having fun from the contestants to the judges to the audience. The pups really showed their stuff and it was a very close race throughout the evening. The pups showed off their public speaking as well as their puppy play skills.

Before the winner was announced, International Puppy 2015 Pup Figaro gave a warm and emotional step down speech.

It was a long but wonderful evening and in the end, Pup Incus came out as Top Dog as International Puppy 2016 with Kriszly de Hond as Runner Up. Pup Turbo received the Bill “Trooper” Boyd Best in Show Memorial Award, Handler CJ Ash received the Community Handler of the Year Award and Pup Dobber received the Community Puppy of the Year Award. BOI-PAH Puppy Hood was given to Puppy Spencer. Sunday was something a little new with a Victory BBQ and Dinner in a Dog Bowl at a very LGBT/kink and pup friendly venue, Lindner’s Pub and was well attended and everyone had a great time before saying goodbyes.

International Puppy Contest will celebrate it’s 5th anniversary at next year’s contest, July 14-17, 2016 in Saint Louis and according to the IPC owners, “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

International Puppy Contest would like to thank all our judges, contestants, staff and volunteers. We also couldn’t make this weekend happen with our awesome venues JJ’s Clubhouse, Blue Ocean Sushi, R-Bar, Lindner’s Pup and Club St Louis.
