BootdogBootblacks – FetLife
It’s now slightly more than two months until the International Mr. Bootblack competition, held during the International Mr. Leather weekend on Memorial Day in fabulous downtown Chicago. And we want you there. Compete. Volunteer. Get your boots done. Come and hang out. It’s all good; the more the merrier! As most of you know, this is the twentieth anniversary of the contest. We have some fun things planned and I hope to see everyone there.
If you’re interested in competing, information can be found on the IML website: http://www.imrl.com/downloads/contestforms.php. Any questions, drop me an e-mail.
If you’d like to help out, we’ve got a ton of stuff that we’d LOVE to have you work with us on. We need people to staff the information table, collect contributions for the silent auction, sell raffle tickets, and set up the infamous bootblack party. Even if you’d just like to come bask in the glow of your fellow bootblacks. Like I said, the more the merrier. Drop me a line and I’ll let you know what we need help with.
One particular topic that I know a lot of people are interested in is the question of changing the contest from a balloted competition to a judged competition. Due to the changeover of both the bootblack coordinator position and changes in the administrative staff of IML, we decided that it would be in everyone’s best interest to delay changing the contest to a judged format until next year. However, we have a scoring model developed and ready to go for next year. I am very excited to have to opportunity to implement this system and I hope that anyone who is interested contacts me with any questions or comments.
That’s about all from here. I hope everyone has a wonderful time at IMsL (I can’t make it; stupid employer expects me to work!)
See you in May!
