CHICAGO – International Mr. Leather’s volunteer sign-up database is now active. The following is the statement from IML on the database and the different shifts that need to be filled:
The Volunteer Sign-Up Database has gone live this evening. Lots of you have been asking.
Being an IML Volunteer is work, but it’s fun work. You meet lots of folks from around the world, help to make sure the entire weekend runs smoothly and, frankly, we can’t make IML a success without our volunteers.
Here’s a quick description of the different areas:
Ticket Sales TR Selling IML weekend packages, single event tickes, and merchandise at the host hotel. Some retail and cash register experience is a plus.
Transportation Event TRE Check credentials for riding the bus to IML Open Ceremonies, Pec & Personality, and Contest
Transportation TR Check IML bus pass credentials by riding bar shuttle buses, let bar bouncer know IML bus outside, and assist with transportation desk at host hotel. Great way to meet people.
Day Pass DP Age verification / ID checking, collect money, distributing wristbands, or handing out waiver forms for entry into market.
Event Security ES Door security, ticket takers, and event crowd control for IML constestant sanctioned events.
Market Security MS Checking for wristbands and IML crendential badges at entrances to Leather Market, monitor information desk within market, secure doors, and market crowd control. Assist with market set up and take down.
Help Desk HD Assist weekend guests with information on IML events, hotel, local restaurants, and community functions.
Headquarters HQ Volunteer office answering phones, overflow for other departments needing help, and special projects.
Staff Services SS Guard contestant areas so only certain name badge colors/individual go beyond a certain point. Very low key department with the advantage of seeing the contestants.
Registration Center RC Register weekend package holders by welcoming them to IML and giving them their weekend important documents.
Boot Black BB Volunteers will assist the Boot Black Competition by manning the contest table answering questions, selling travel fund pins, selling raffle tickets, and help set up boot black party along with manning the silent auction.

And remember, Volunteers get a badge which gets you into all Official IML Events during the weekend (except the House of Blues Party on Sunday night).
When you register, we do ask all Volunteers to sign-up for at least 3 different shifts, for a maximum of 12 hours.
