GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – This year marks the 15th anniversary of the International Ms Bootblack contest. In honor of this milestone, and to help document, celebrate, and share those 15 incredible years with the leather and kink communities, the amazing producers of International Ms Leather/International Ms Bootblack contests (IMsL/IMsBB) are producing a film about the history of the event.
This is our chance to help with a piece of history!
MAsT: Grand Rapids, is partnering with other local events/groups/organizations to hold a 50/50 Raffle to help raise funds for this noble effort.
Tickets will be available for $1 a piece, 7 tickets for $5, or the value price of $10 you can get a strip from your “belt to your boots”! The winning ticket will of course receive half the pot, with the other portion going to support the film project.

From April 18-21, 2013, International Ms Leather (IMsL) will host the 15th International Ms Bootblack Contest and celebrate IMsBB 2012 Tarna and the 13 previous titleholders who maintain the bootblack tradition and have worked hard to open doors for all women bootblacks. As we all know, bootblacks know how to throw a damn good party (chocolate cake, no forks, please!), and the IMsL organization is hoping to get nearly all of our IMsBBs to San Francisco for this year’s off-the-hook IMsL Weekend. Trust us—this year’s IMsL is not to be missed!
During this year’s IMsBB XV Celebration, we wish to mark this moment in bootblacking, Leather and Leatherwoman history by making a documentary, which is tentatively titled, “High Shine: 15 Years of International Ms Bootblack.” IMsL Historian and Archivist Christina Court is already reviewing old film footage and pictures, collecting interviews and doing pre-production work so that this film highlights, historically and currently, how the IMsBBs illustrate the ways bootblacks do so much more than clean, condition and extend the longevity of our leathers. In crafting and sharing this film, IMsL hopes to contribute to discussions regarding the ways the Leather community bootblacks help preserve our traditions, culture and community all while illustrating the transformative power of collaboration…and they do this in many super-sexy ways!
Making a film about a facet of the Leather community actually takes a great deal of assistance from the community. Leather, BDSM and Kinky folks in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area have generously stood up to help us out! MAsT: Grand Rapids, in conjunction with The Grand Rapids Educational Munch and Grand Rapids Kinky Night Out, will sell raffle tickets at their January 2013 events. On Saturday, January 26th, at the MAsT: Grand Rapids’ Bootblack Intensive with GLLA 2012 Bootblack Bella, they will draw the winning raffle ticket! (Winner need not be present at the time of the drawing.) Fifty percent of all funds raised in this joint-organization raffle will be donated to the IMsBB XV Celebration and Documentary fund.
