ELGIN, Ill. – Chicago area jewelry designer and burlesque performer Lisa Koziol-Ellis, who performed as Foxy Goat Lisa, was killed at her home in Elgin during the early morning hours on Saturday, March 2. It has been classified a homicide and police are investigating.
Lisa’s death hit Chicago’s artistic and fetish community hard throughout the weekend, with people offering condolences and support to her friends and family. Monday would have been her 34th birthday. She had moved into the townhome in Elgin only the week before.
“Honestly, it’s hard,” said Cherries Jubilee, a Chicago burlesque performer. “ I found out in the middle of my show Saturday and we all broke down in the dressing room.” Cherries said that she wasn’t a close friend but had performed with Lisa often in area burlesque shows.
A planned birthday party will be a memorial for Lisa with a fundraiser toward the end of the month for Lisa’s family. We’ll post the details as we get them.
Her sister, Renee Martinson, told the Daily Herald that her sister “was an amazing, caring person who did everything possible to put everyone else before herself and let us all know how much she loved us.”
The Herald reported on Monday evening that Lisa had suffered multiple stab wounds. The newspaper also said that police had no new information on the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Elgin Police Department.
