Folsom Street Fair Dates Released Through 2015

SAN FRANCISCO – Today, Folsom Street Events announced the dates for Folsom Street Fair for the next three years.

In the early years of the fair (1984-1992), it was timed to coincide with the autumnal equinox; however, from 1993 on, the fair’s date came to be associated with the last Sunday in September. In 2012, the fair was moved to Sunday, September 23 in order to avoid a conflict with Oracle Open World. For the next three years, the fair will occur on the last Sunday in September – with 2014 being the only exception.

FUTURE DATES FOR FOLSOM STREET FAIR:
Sunday, September 29, 2013
Sunday, September 21, 2014*
Sunday, September 27, 2015

*not the last Sunday of September

According to Demetri Moshoyannis, Executive Director, “After this year’s date change, we wanted a long-term plan for Folsom Street Fair dates. We worked closely with both SF MTA and Oracle to ensure a conflict-free future. Next year marks the 30TH Folsom Street Fair, and we will revert to our ‘normal’ date on the last Sunday of the month. In 2014, we will move the date up a week again to avoid a similar conflict; but, for 2015, we are back to the last Sunday of the month again.”

According to Jacob Richards, outgoing Board President, “The decision to move the fair date this year was not taken lightly. When we have a conflict with SalesForce or Oracle Open World, the entire inventory of hotel rooms for the city is sold out. To avoid conflicts with other important events that bring visitors and revenue into San Francisco, we must look at the last two weekends in September. We hope that this announcement will give everyone with plenty of advance notice.”
