CHICAGO — Midwest Drummer and Drummerboy held a fundraiser at Jackhammer on Saturday night to raise money for cancer research.
Brandon Gentry and Pup Bayard recruited about 20 people to wear or donate ripe jockstraps that were auctioned off on stage by local entertainer Diamond Devereaux. A total of $1,131 was raised with all the money going to the American Cancer Society.
The fundraiser was personal to many. Bayard was diagnosed and had surgery for stage 1 testicular cancer. Dennis Murray, the current Illinois Bear Cub and one of the models, is currently fighting advanced esophageal cancer. (Editor’s Note: Bayard is also a staff writer for the Great Lakes Den and the pup of the publisher.)
Titleholders and community members from across the midwest modeled the jockstraps and some were even sent from IML 2017 Ralph Bruneau, California Drummer 2017 Espeho O. Xzavier, California DrummerBoy 2017 Erik Thomas, International Mr. Olympus Leather 2017 Anthony Michael Harmon and Mr. Iowa Leather 2018 Bull Baugh.
