CHICAGO — For our August Roundtable, we’ll be talking about shame – and the guilt that often accompanies it – as it affects us as a part of our power exchange relationships. … Chicago – Sat August 18th 3:00 – 5:00pm at the Leather Archives & Museum (6418 N Greenview, Chicago IL)
Whatever form of power exchange or role we undertake, and regardless of challenges in our relationships, we are in this because it’s a positive experience for ourselves. Whether D/s, owner & pet, M/s, trainer, boi, etc, there’s a rightness that we embrace and celebrate.
Yet, even in that positive light, we can also experience a sense of shame. It may be related to personal fantasy- even in a lifestyle that is open to alternatives and in which we practice respect and consent with our partners.
Or shame may develop when there’s a misstep in the relationship.
Shame – or fear of being shamed – can also evolve from outside the kink/power exchange community, evoked by family, friends or co-workers who learn of our power exchange and put us in a negative light for our personal choices.
For our August Roundtable, we’ll be talking about shame – and the guilt that often accompanies it – as it affects us as a part of our power exchange relationships. Come join the conversation at the Leather Archives & Museum (6418 N Greenview, Chicago IL) on Saturday, August 18th. Group discussion starts at 3:00pm & is free to attend. Our roundtable ends at 5:00pm. Afterwards, those who wish to can join with us for dinner at a nearby restaurant, where we can relax and enjoy getting to know each other!
