DETROIT — After careful consideration, Equality Michigan has decided to postpone our EQMI 2016 Fall Reception from Saturday, October 1, 2016 to Friday, December 2, 2016. Upon reviewing the increasingly crowded landscape of autumn fundraising events peopled by our closest movement allies, we felt it best to change our event date to a time that allows us to be good colleagues to our agency peers. This newly selected event date also prevents us from conflicting with the various electoral fundraising activities leading up to November’s pivotal election, a particularly focused time for us, and moves us into the more festive and relaxed holiday season. Accordingly, we are pleased to announce this new, more ideal event date.
Presented by DTE Energy, this EQMI hosted political mixer will still be held at the DTE Headquarters in downtown Detroit. Having already announced two of the four award honorees for the evening’s program, Representative Dan Kildee and Aiden Tatum-Ramirez, we look forward to further announcing our respective McAllister Award and Change Agent Award recipients in the coming months. The Grammy-nominated, Detroit-based producer and multi-instrumentalist, Brandon Williams, and his jazz trio are also slated to entertain our guests throughout the event. With worthy honorees, A-list entertainment, fine cuisine, an expected 200-plus guests of Michigan’s political who’s who, and a chic holiday atmosphere, a date change may only help ensure this political mixer is as sumptuous and sophisticated as it is celebratory. Won’t you join us?
