CHICAGO — There’s emotional risk in any relationship. But in power exchange, emotional risk takes on a special quality. The nature of power exchange involves a commitment that extends to deep levels of our psyche. And with that comes equally deep vulnerability. Both in play and in our relationship dynamic outside of play, we ask much of ourselves and of our partners, exposing our selves, testing the boundaries as we go. And often at a ramped up level of intensity.
Add to that the emotional risk that comes for many of us for our relationships outside of power exchange: the risk of alienated affection from family &/or friends should they come to know of our alternative lifestyle. Such potential – or actual – crises with family & friends can add yet another layer to the uncertainty and emotional gamble for those of us who embrace power exchange.
Come share your experiences and ideas. Join in the conversation Saturday, August 19th at the Leather Archives & Museum (6418 N Greenview, Chicago IL). Group meeting starts at 3:00pm & is free to attend. Discussion ends at 5:00pm. Afterwards, those who wish to can join with us for dinner at a nearby restaurant, where we can relax and enjoy getting to know each other.
The Chicago Power Exchange Roundtable is a discussion & social group for everyone 18 and over who is involved in, exploring, or curious about power exchange relationships. This includes M/s, D/s, Sir/ boy, and Trainer relationships, as well as any other relationships that defy labels but incorporate consensual power exchange. Attendees do not need to be actively in a relationship to attend, and all levels of experience (including none!) are welcome!
