Chicago Leather This Weekend

MCL 2015

CHICAGO – The Mr. Chicago Leather contest is this weekend with some changes from past years. At last year’s contest, the crowd was so big, the bar actually had to stop people from coming in. The bar was at full capacity and people could barely move.

So this year, MCL has expanded into a full weekend of events. And while the meet and greet and other events will still take place at Touche, the contest’s original home, the contest itself will be at the nearby Leather Archives & Museum’s auditorium.

Things start Friday night at 9 with the contestant sign-in and welcome party. The roast for outgoing MCL 2014 Miguel Torres starts at midnight lead by Thib Guicherd-Callin, Mr. Santa Clara 2013 and First Runner Up IML 2013. If you were present for his roasts of MCL 2013 Nick Zuko or IML 2013 Andy Cross, you’ll know pretty much anything is possible. He’s been called the snarky lovechild of Karen Ultra and Jon Krongaard. Be afraid.

On Saturday, there will be demos and sessions all day while the contestants go to their interviews, thanks to Titans of the Midwest’s Kink U.

Leather Eyeopeners Breakfast start at 11 a.m. at Touche with a Leather Swap starting at noon. At 1, the first of the classes starts with Issa Arden doing Hot Wax, followed by Rope with JW at 2:30 and Sensory Deprivation with Brad at 4 p.m.

The contest starts at the LA&M at 8 p.m. with the doors opening at 7. Tickets are $10 at the door with money going to the LA&M.

The victory brunch will be at Hamburger Mary’s in Andersonville Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
