DETROIT – Bootblacking is the art and craft of caring for leather items, including boots, shoes, jackets, vests, pants, chaps and leather toys. Bootblacking is different from shoeshining because bootblacks recognize and understand the importance, meaning and history that the leather items often have for the wearer. It can also be an erotic expression of service, submission or dominance and can involve elements of sado-masochistic play. We will learn the basic technical skills required to take care of leather items and how to build a basic kit of supplies. We will also talk about some of the ways to incorporate bootblack play into your scenes. There will be a stunt top for demo purposes and much fun will be had by all!
vegasaurus_rex is the 2015 Michigan Community Bootblack and is a founder and co-host of the Detroit Area Bootblacks’ Laboratory (DABBL). She is a radical sexual outlaw with a disdain for hierarchy who could be described as a contrarian leather anarchist. She is a body positive and sex positive polyamorous feminist. She is also a fuzzy little piglet who demands authentic and intimate relationships that involve degradation, objectification and lots of pain, done with love and affection. She is a nerdy femme who loves Batman and can be devastatingly sarcastic. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
