LOUISVILLE — Bluegrass Leather Pride was held this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.
The contest weekend kicked off on Friday night with three classes and a contestant introduction at Pride Bar in New Albany, Indiana. Contestants sold raffle tickets and Jello shots, as well as offering open bootblacking for Bluegrass contestants, and the weekend was opened with members of the Louisville Gay Men’s Chorus.
Saturday continued with more classes as well as contestant interviews and a Leather history panel at the end of the day, which included Ms Kendra, Great Lakes Leather Alliance Producer, Jeffrey Payne, International Mr Leather 2009, Ms Constance, producer of Bluegrass Leather Pride weekend, and boy Brent, Indiana Drummerboy 2001.
Bluegrass Leather Pride Contest is a Pantheon Small Event of the Year nominee, and sends contestants to Great Lakes Leather Alliance. The contest opened with a blessing from the Derby City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and was emceed by Ms Constance, Ms Tammy and boy Matt.
The judging panel this year was comprised of Jeffrey Payne, Pup Incus, International Puppy 2016, Sir Travis, Michigan Master 2014 and Great Lakes Power Exchange 2015, Master Doug, Great Lakes Master 2016, Cerrin, Ms Bluegrass Leather Pride 2013, Jody, Mr Kentucky Leather 2016, and boy Brent.
At the end of the evening, four new titleholders were sashed. Bluegrass Leather Pride Bootblack 2017, Raymond Smith; Ms Bluegrass Leather Pride 2017 Jami; Bluegrass Leather Pride boy boy Steve, and in the first BLP Puppy contest, Bluegrass Leather Pride Puppy 2017, Pup Alice.
The weekend ended with a moving keynote speech by Jeffrey Payne, and a presentation of earned Leather.
