ANN ARBOR, Mich. – This month’s topic* is Poly & the Law.
Several special interest groups openly against ‘alternative’ lifestyles have worked hard at garnering a definition of marriage as being between ‘one man and one woman’. While their focus has been primarily on the gay community, their movement subsequently questions the rights of those practicing polyamory. This month we will discuss the legal definitions of marriage, polygamy, adultery, and bigamy, and how those definitions impact the practice of polyamory, as it relates to an individual’s rights and freedoms. Issues within the fields of criminal law, constitutional law and family law will be discussed. The discussion will be lead by guest facilitator and attorney Larissa.

– *During every meeting there is a half hour of open floor time. If you have an issue/topic you’d like to discuss that isn’t related to poly & the law this is your time to speak up! Of course if you have something to discuss before the meeting please post it!
